A View from the Bridge

Headlong – 2023

1950s, Brooklyn. Beatrice and Eddie Carbone have built an all-American life when they take in their relations, Marco and Rodolfo, two illegal immigrants from Sicily. A romantic spark between Eddie’s niece and Rodolfo unleashes Eddie’s jealousy, and their stories spin beyond control.

The brief was to recreate the iconic scene where Marco, having seen seen Eddie bully Rodolfo, lifts a chair with one hand above his head to show Eddie his strength and to demonstrate they won’t be messed up with. The actor wasn’t cast in time for the shoot, so we used a stand in, his feet in water and shot his reflection.

The play toured between the Octagon theatre Bolton, Chichester Festival and Rose Theatre.
