CAN Festival 2021

Chinese Arts Now (CAN) – 2021

The brief: Chinese Arts Now was founded in 2005 as a UK-based not-for-profit arts organisation whose aim is to develop, commission and present to the public work exploring contemporary Chinese perspectives and art forms.

Every year CAN runs a festival supporting British Chinese artists. The 2021 edition took part exclusively online because of the pandemic, and included a series of striking digital commissions.

My design took inspiration from one of those artwork – Seph Li ‘Phase’, an augmented reality art experiment inspired by Chinese ink paintings. It gave me the idea to create a 3D brush-stroke expressive number ‘2021’, wrapping itself around the name of the event.

This aesthetic was applied to all the events categories of the festival, as well as on all campaign materials.
