Everyman
National Theatre – 2015
The brief: a modern adaption of a 15th Century moral tale following a man’s frantic search for someone to speak on his behalf when God sends Death on Earth to find him.
I came up with the idea to turn God into a giant finger coming from the sky to point at the unsuspecting hero, and pitched the idea to place the hand on the building. The installation was an instant hit on social media. One of the images even made Time Out 2015 Review of the Year issue, and it became the symbol of Rufus Norris taking over the institution as Artistic Director.
